CAREER NOTES:
Kipsang began his marathon career in a rather low-key manner at a couple of Dutch races in 2004. He placed 17th in 2:14:55 in Rotterdam that April and then moved up to seventh at Amsterdam (2:12:44) that fall.
Not many people expected much for him at Paris the following spring, but he stunned the field to win in 2:08:04. He returned to Rotterdam in 2006 and broke 2:10 there to finish sixth.
Kipsang made another step forward in time at the 2007 real,-Berlin Marathon, lowering his personal best to 2:07:29 while finishing third.
Not a frequent racer, he has run 27:32.97 for 10,000 meters and 1:01:02 for the half-marathon.
