CAREER NOTES:
Biktimirova has had two heart-breaking marathon runs in 2008. In April she was engaged in an extraordinary battle with Dire Tune at the 2008 Boston Marathon, where she held on until the final few hundred meters. She lost by just two seconds and was only 15 seconds off her lifetime PR. Six months later at Chicago she was the last woman contesting the race against eventual winner Lidiya Grigoryeva and again wound up the runner-up.
Biktimirova had her second lifetime marathon victory as she reached the finish first at the 2007 Honolulu Marathon. Her only previous first place came in arguably the best marathon of her career when she also posted her personal best time of 2:25:12 course record at Frankfurt in 2005. In 2006 she was part of the Russian team which won the European Championships silver medal.
Among her other personal bests are 32:32 for 10 kilometers, 51:40 for 15 kilometers and 1:11:55 for the half-marathon.
