CAREER NOTES:
Gulnara Vygovskaya's excellent showing at the 2007 Paris International Marathon – 2:28:22, second place – earned her a place on the Russian Federation's national team which competed at the Osaka World Championships.
She again competed at Paris again in 2008, making the top ten and then at Berlin in the fall. Placing fifth, she barely missed breaking 2:30 by four seconds.
Vygovskaya was second at the 2006 national half-marathon championships (1:12:06) and then set a national record of 1:06:30 for 20km at the 2006 IAAF World Road Running Championships.
