CAREER NOTES:

Robert Cheboror first showcased his world class talent at a 25K race organized by William Kiplagat (2:06:50 for the marathon) and Bernard Barmasai (former World Record holder steeplechase) in December 2001. He persevered to finish third in unfavorable footwear.

Cheboror placed sixth in a strong performance at the Half Marathon Vitry sur Seine in 2002, followed by a first big race win at the Lille Half Marathon (1:01:42 PR) in August.

In 2003, Cheboror finished second at the Berlin Half Marathon (1:01:55) and led the first 32K as a pacemaker at the Amsterdam Marathon before hanging on for the final miles to finish ninth in 2:11:06. Cheboror finished second at the 2004 Boston Marathon behind Timothy Cherigat in 2:11:49 and then returned to Amsterdam to claim his first marathon victory in 2:06:23. His time was the third fastest in 2004, a new course record and a personal best by nearly five minutes.

The next year was quiet as Cheboror was edged just outside the Top 10 at the IAAF World Championships Marathon to finish 11th in 2:14:08. He did start the year with a half marathon victory in 1:03:35 on a challenging course in Egmond aan Zee, Holland

Cheboror returned to world class performance early in 2006 with a strong second-place finish at the Hamburg Marathon in 2:07:37. He also placed ninth at the Dam to Damloop 10-Mile in 47:47 and fifth at The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. In 2007 he was 10th at the Boston Marathon.

PERSONAL NOTES:

Robert Cheboror is from Kipsaos, Kenya and trains with William Kiplagat and William Kipsang. He and wife Purity have a daughter, Sharon. A devout Christian he enjoys helping those in need and listening to Christian music.
