Partners and the Community

Youth Program
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon gives back to the Chicago Park District by annually supporting the Chicago Park District CityWide Cross Country Championships. By helping host three qualifying youth races, the Chicago Marathon shares the joy and reward of exercise and fitness with the next generation. The series culminates on the Saturday of race weekend with a championship competition at Burnham Harbor. Children in the program receive finisher medals, bib numbers, certificates and t-shirts, along with the thrill of racing.

Neighborhood Partners
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is extremely grateful for the tremendous support it receives from the communities that house its course each year. Thanks to the many years of assitance from the 29 distinct neighborhoods that make up the Chicago Marathon's world-class course, the race now annually attracts 45,000 runners and 1.5 million spectators. Athlete Visits
During race week, several elite athletes visit Chicago schools to share the stories of their success and the dedication it takes to become a professional athlete. They also discuss the importance of nutrition, fitness and exercise in all lifestyles. Athlete school visits are typically planned on Thursday and Friday of race week.
