New York Road Runners Youth Programming

Physical activity and play are essential elements to childhood; not only do they provide fun, they promote confidence and teamwork, and they are the foundation of healthy habits in adulthood. The youth programming offered by New York Road Runners brings free programs to children at their schools or community centers. Children of all athletic abilities are encouraged to reach their own personal goals within the team environment. NYRR events, such as weekend races and the Youth Jamboree, provide even more opportunities for children to engage in friendly competition with their peers as well as set goals for personal accomplishment.

Reaching far beyond the limits of New York City, NYRR serves over 400 school and community sites across the United States and South Africa. Over 100,000 kids take advantage of these programs, and the numbers continue to grow, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of coaches, trainers, and volunteers. Support from individuals, family and corporate foundations, city, state, and federal government, and Team for Kids make NYRR youth programming possible, and allows us to continue developing strategies that will help fight childhood obesity and promote physical fitness, character development, and personal achievement in youth across the country.
