CAREER NOTES:
Rose Cheuiyot ran her first marathon in Germany at Hamburg in April 2006; she placed second in 2:27:09. Six months later she won her only marathon to date running 2:28:26 at Amsterdam.
In 2007 she had another solid second place at Seoul but had a poor result at the World Championships. Cheruiyot came back with a personal record 2:25:48 at Dubai in January 2008, but after limited competition for most of the year placed fourth at the real,- Berlin Marathon.
Berlin has been the site of success for Cheruiyot. She won the 2005 Berlin 25km (1:24:46) and the 2002 Berliner Half-Marathon (1:09:32, personal record).
Cheruiyot has a strong track running background. She was 11th in the 2000 Olympic 5000m (14:58.07) and 9th (2001) and 7th (1995) at the World Championships 5000m.
