CAREER NOTES:
Martin Lauret was one of the biggest surprises at the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. In just his second marathon he finished in 2:15:10, ahead of many competitors who had superior personal bests.
He has competed at a world-class level for more than a decade, running the IAAF World Cross-Country Championships in 1997 and 1998. His 10,000 meters PR of 28:09.96 was in 1999 at the FBK Games in Hengelo, but his 5000 meters PR (13:42.24) came this past July in Heusden.
Lauret was sixth at the Brabants Dagblad Ten Miles in September.
