CAREER NOTES:
At mile 22 of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, Desiree Davila looked like she could be headed to Beijing, as she was within eight seconds of third-place runner Blake Russell. However, Davila couldn't gain any more ground, and although fading over the final few miles she still placed 13th in a personal best 2:37:50.
She ran a strong race in Chicago in October, placing in the top five and cutting her personal best by more than six minutes.
At the 2009 World Championships Davila was in 28th place at halfway, but continued to move through the field and finished just outside the top ten, taking almost four minutes off her PR.
Her half marathon best of 1:12:10 was set at Houston in January 2008 to go along with two more 1:12 half marathons in 2009.
Davila has gained international running experience as a member of both the USA World Road Running Team and Chiba Ekiden Relay Team in both 2006 and 2007.
She graduated from Arizona State where she was an All-American at both cross-country and track (5000 meters).
PERSONAL NOTES:
Davila's hometown is San Diego. She now lives in Michigan where she is a member of the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project.
