At the 2006 ING New York City Marathon, Kiogora had his best World Marathon Majors finish with a second place behind only Marilson Gomes dos Santos. In his return to Boston in April of 2007, Kiogora improved one place to third and was just off his previous time despite terrible running conditions. He then finished seventh in his second New York City Marathon race.
A two-time podium finisher at the Rock ānā Roll Marathon in San Diego, Kiogora trains in Boulder, Colorado, with fellow ING New York City Marathon competitor Tom Nyariki and top-ranked road racer Gilbert Okari. He has good half-marathon speed with a PR of 1:01:09 from the 2000 Paris Half-Marathon.
PERSONAL NOTES:
Kiogora (nicknamed "Baba") trains with the Kimbia group in Kenya and is the first professional runner from the Kenyan town of Meru. He is married with three children and also works as a coffee farmer near Mount Kenya.
