Join the Melanoma Foundation’s
Boston Marathon® Team

runnerFor many, crossing the finish line of the Boston Marathon is a dream come true. Yet, there is another dream you can help make come true just by running in this legendary race. By supporting the Melanoma Foundation of New England you support the dream of eradicating melanoma through education, prevention and early detection.

The statistics don’t lie, melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer and the rate of occurrence is rising faster than that of any other type of cancer. One person dies every hour from skin cancer, primarily melanoma. The disease can affect anyone’s sister, brother, parent, child, or friend.

The good news is early detection can save countless lives. That’s why we are on a mission to educate the nation about the critical importance of early detection and the dangers of excessive sun exposure as a leading cause of melanoma.

You can help us win the race against melanoma, by joining our Boston Marathon team, Running for Cover. Whether from the finish line or the sideline, Running for Cover is looking for passionate and committed volunteers looking to make a real difference and fight a tough battle against one of the fastest growing cancers in the country today. Last year’s team proudly raised $126,000, and we are looking to beat that number this year.

Requirements:

  • For non-qualified runners “Invitational”:  Minimum fundraising requirement is $3,000 (a commitment to raising $5,000 will automatically earn a spot on the team).
  • For qualified runners: Qualified runners must raise a minimum of $350.

All runners will receive Running for Cover apparel, a detailed training program, fitness and nutrition clinics, and fundraising tips.
