Parkinson’s disease is a movement disorder that is chronic and progressive, meaning that symptoms continue and worsen over time. Some of the common symptoms of PD are tremor of the hands, arms, legs or jaw; rigidity or stiffness of the limbs and trunk; slowness of movement; and postural instability or impaired balance and coordination.
Although the causes of Parkinson’s are unknown and there is no cure, scientists are working diligently to unlock the mysteries of this disease that impacts more than six million people worldwide.
