Provisional star to be assigned to Age Group Champs results in 2024

Runners in the 2024 AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships will be awarded a provisional star for their participation.

The championship race is taking place within the 2024 Sydney Marathon, which is a candidate to become an Abbott World Marathon Major.

Should Sydney complete two successful candidacy assessments, it will join the AbbottWMM family and every runner taking part in the 2024 championship event will receive a full star at that time.

Until then, provisional stars will be awarded and become visible in participants’ runner portals following the event on September 15 next year.

Dawna Stone, CEO of AbbottWMM said: “The Age Group World Championships is a program our community feels strongly about and one that has produced record-breaking performances in a number of categories.”

“That demonstrates the standard of runner taking part and the level of commitment our participants have to this goal. We believe it is only right that this special group, that is already part of the AbbottWMM family, should be rewarded for dedicating themselves to training for, traveling to and racing in our flagship event.”

Events currently in the candidate process are the Sydney, Sanlam Cape Town and Chengdu Marathons.
