Vote for your Performance of the Race

The new Abbott World Marathon Majors season kicked off in style in Tokyo with course and national records being broken, a clean sweep and more than 2,000 Six Star Finishers celebrating with their medals.

Deena Kastor, a two-time Major winner and Six Star Finisher, has picked her top four performances from a dramatic weekend and you can vote on which is your favorite.

Iliass Aouani

Ilias Aouani showed us his World Championship bronze wasn’t a fluke by finishing sixth and breaking Italy’s national record in 2:04:26.

Brigid Kosgei

Brigid Kosgei is back! After recent struggles with injuries, she was back to her brilliant best, smashing the course record by 86 seconds to win in 2:14:29, which is just shy of her 2019 world record. It was her sixth Major title too.

Marcel Hug

Marcel Hug continues to dominate the sport with another ageless performance to win the men’s wheelchair race by more than seven minutes. He now holds all seven Major titles and Tokyo was a staggering 43rd victory.

Thomas Eller

Away from the elite runners, I want to nominate Thomas Eller, who picked up his fourth Six Star Medal. Thomas is a deaf runner and such in inspiration, not just to that community, but everyone. His is responsible for deaf runners having special back bibs which alert other runners to be more considerate when passing.
