Hassan: Obiri is a beast

Halloween is a big deal in New York City and Sifan Hassan was certainly getting caught up in the festivities when she spoke about ‘a beast’ rampaging through town on Sunday.

The Manhattan bars and shop fronts are covered in spiders and cobwebs and locals were in spooky fancy dress as early as midday.

Most of that will have disappeared come race day but Hassan will still be on the lookout for something scary as she runs through New York chasing her fourth Major win.

“Ladies, I’m scared of you,” said Hassan as she considered her main threats on her New York debut.

“[Sharon] Lokedi and [Hellen] Obiri, they already did this course and are very strong women. They are very tough.

“Especially Obiri. She’s a beast.”
