Increased field announced for 2026 Tokyo Marathon

Tokyo Marathon has announced there will be 1,000 more runners at next year’s event which takes place on Sunday March 1.

The organisation has expanded the field to 39,000 to enable more people to participate.

Registration for the Tokyo Marathon has now started with general entry beginning on August 15.

Organisers have also confirmed an increase in prize money for the elite wheelchair marathon.

The race winner will now receive $25,000 with the runner-up earning $12,000.
