Six things you need to know

As we head into a weekend we’ve never seen before with two Abbott World Marathon Majors races taking place on consecutive days, here’s a quick rundown of the key info you need to know:

1. The TCS London Marathon ballot closes TODAY!
If you still need your London star for your Six Star Journey, apply now. You’ll learn if you are successful in February 2022. London welcomed 36,000 runners back to its streets on the first weekend of October and now it’s your chance to try for a place for 2022. If you live outside the UK, you must enter the International ballot. Full information here.

2. The BMW Berlin Marathon application window is open until December 6
Berlin kicked us off in fine fashion to bring the Majors back with a bang in September, and if you want to be part of that party atmosphere at the start gate, you have until December 6 to enter the lottery. ENTER NOW.

3. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is happening on SUNDAY!
All eyes will turn to the Windy City this Sunday as our friends in Chicago bring the good times back to the various vibrant neighborhoods that come to life along the race route. There's talk of an American women's record for Sara Hall and a repeat of his 2017 victory for Hall's fellow US star Galen Rupp. Will the stars and stripes be on top of both podiums for the first time in Majors history?

4. The Boston Marathon is happening on MONDAY!
A Marathon Monday in Boston like no other will see 20,000 runners make the famous old journey from Hopkinton to Boylston Street as the world’s oldest continuously held marathon becomes the fourth Major to make its return. The darlings of 2018 are back with Desiree Linden and Yuki Kawauchi hoping to repeat their famous wins of that storm-battered year.

5. Age Group points are up for grabs!
It’s not just the Abbott World Marathon Majors that count towards the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings. This weekend, from the streets of Stockholm to the Sunshine Coast of Australia, no fewer than 14 of our partner ranking races are taking place, where age groupers 40 and over can make a bid for a slot at the 2022 World Championships. View the race listings here.

6. The Six Star Family is growing again!
It’s been fantastic to see that Six Star medal being awarded to new runners after such a long time away. We will pass 7,000 Six Star Finishers by the end of Monday. Make sure you have an account with us and claim any previous Majors stars you have earned. We look forward to seeing thousands more stars appear in accounts after this weekend! Sign up/Sign in.
