Vote for your Performance of the Day from London

Deena Kastor, a London Marathon winner herself, has chosen her shortlist for the Performance of the Day, which you can now vote for.

“My first nomination unsurprisingly goes to Sabastian Sawe. In running 1:59:30 he redefined human limits, shattered a psychological barrier and recalibrated human potential. He has also won every marathon he’s run.

“Yomif Kejelcha was equally impressive and his 1:59:41 was the fastest marathon debut in history. He seemed destined for the marathon distance after breaking the world record for the half and he backed up all the hype with an incredible run on Sunday. What can we expect from this newcomer in the future?

“The race was next-level for excitement and Jacob Kiplimo played his part too. He ran 2:00:28 which was seven seconds under Kevin Kiptum’s previous world record. I guess it was going to take this kind of depth if anyone was going to run under two hours.

“The women’s race was also packed with talent, which you need if you want to break more barriers. Tigst Assefa ran brilliantly, timing her kick to perfection to defend her title and lower her women only world record to 2:15:41.

“It was an incredible weekend and if I had a fifth vote I would have nominated The TCS London Marathon itself. This was a high level race up front and through the masses, which totalled another world record of 59,830 finishers. No wonder they are entertaining a two-day event in the future. We love to see lives transformed through this sport."
